How Avoiding Social Media Got Me Ahead of the Game

“Not everything that is served is well fit”. — S. Stojanovski

I’m off Facebook for a couple of years now**. Not that I deleted my whole profile, but I started not to participate in it. Never watching the feed, not posting pictures, statuses, “great opinions” etc. To be precise I left my macho-like popularity on social media four or five years ago. I decided that spending time on other productive stuff, it’s way much better time spent. If you still have me there, say hi next time you visit. Though I always prefer meeting you in person. :) Keep reading now.

  • *And I am proud to be that way.
progress > useless scrolling

The only useful thing that made me keep the profile up and running, was my beautiful face and hundreds of likes coming from sexy and desirable women. I’m just kidding. Though it might be true, Facebook Messenger was the real reason I kept the whole blueish thing, disconnecting’ me on a regular basis. It was a nice way to chat with my friend, colleagues, and partners. Made me more aware of some faculty stuff and social events. The whole light side — That was all of it.

These are the 7 important things that instead of social media got me ahead of the game:

  1. Started reading a lot — Instead of the stupid robotic-like habit of endless scrolling, I started reading a lot of books. I suddenly had the whole time of the universe served at my disposal. So I started Investing it on amazing and creative new things and ideas.

Do you know that besides games, movies and TV series there is a way to access the world’s library for free? Not feeling like reading, GOOD! Just listen to some provocative audio book, while you shoot some zombies on your PC or whatever!

2. Got all sorts of skills — Speed reading, Body language(I can read what you say when you don’t even speak) How to’s, Healthy food choices, Fitness ideas, Important facts about human intelligence.

  • I boosted my creativity, learned to sing better, found that I can write and touch human souls with my real-life poetry.
  • I finished more than a master's in Psychology on my own, dived deep into different types of philosophies and I touched the essence of human existence.
  • And after finishing this post, found that I can also write in English.

3. Just realized that I’m a genius… I also play the guitar and write songs and lyrics. (I won’t mention that I can double-deal you aces, anywhere from a shuffled deck of playing cards, while memorizing randomly selected 54 objects in less than 2 minutes — I can even recall them out by their numbering.)

As an economy graduate with a major in Marketing, I started building myself. I didn’t go for the money, quick jobs, deals, and stuff, but started seeing the whole deal inside out. I had to expand my knowledge and intelligence so I could expand my outward horizons. That was my plan, that’s what I did.

4. Became a better conversationalist — With my introverted personality in order to meet new people and date, I had to improve my face-to-face interactions with other people, especially women. Although it has some flaws, some people think that if you don’t have an interactive social media profile, you don’t have a life — they couldn’t be more wrong. I live even more!

You don’t keep in touch with everyone(it’s true), but surely they are more curious about you when they finally meet you in person. And maybe melt in front of your beautiful and intelligent being — if you happen to be one.

5. Kept my life private — Privacy is everything. Just ask a famous person, what sorts of things they are ready to give, to acclaim back their privacy. Then think again. Everything is relative, and mass society opinions are almost always wrong. Always keep on improving…

You didn’t even realize that these 7 important things are actually five? Great. That’s the irony. You can’t learn and dive deeper from short, how to blog posts. Go read some real books. Expand, reflect and enjoy.

On the other side of social media, lies your real life.

Go on and live it.

Until our next time, have an amazing awakening.

Always yours,

Simon.

Ps.

I’m back on social media, but just for Marketing.

Thanks for reading! Now, If you enjoyed it hit that clap button below. Would mean a lot to me and it helps other people see my story. :)
